Exploring original forms of plates
The archetype of these plates is a leaf. Leaves were presumably used as mats to contain food and keep the food from getting dirty. Plates serve as a solemn stage for cooking, playing the unavoidable role of offering the limelight to the food that is being served. The PLPL series kicked off with the plate, and then later expanded to bowls and cups.
